Okay guys, here’s the deal. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT..so please take the time to READ it.
We’ve been doing this great study..Basic, by Francis Chan. It seems each week our discussions get better and better! Unfortunately, talking isn’t good enough anymore. While some of you have been coming to Ethos for a while and others are newer, most of you are like me. We come to Ethos, eat, laugh with friends, half-heartedly worship the Best Thing that’s ever happend to us, learn a little (maybe take some notes we don’t even ponder on later), talk about it a little, laugh with friends some more, and leave. Then we come back and do the same exact thing a week later.
You might think, “Well what’s wrong with that?” So GET IN SCRIPTURE, and FIGURE OUT what God intended church to be. Right now, we don’t meet His requirements…and as you know, there are many other churches that don’t get it quite right, either.
Aren’t we sick of talking about “how to clean a room” each week, and analyzing what it would look like if we did, but never actually doing it? Shouldn’t we be ashamed that gangs understand and live in fellowship better than we do? God is giving us the opportunity to make Ethos what He wills church to be: a body, a family, NOT a place . We have not passed the point of return…we can be what He’s calling us to be! Guys, in God’s eyes, Ethos was never meant to be an organization..it was and is supposed to be an ORGANISM that lives and breathes!
If you’re thinking we need to figure out who Ethos is supposed to reach or what it should look like, we don’t…we just need to start doing it and let God take care of the rest. Ethos doesn’t have to be just outreach, or just for believers. God wants it to be for both because that’s how fellowship and family was meant to be…But it is our job to obey His command, and start bringing the people around us to the feet of Jesus, and not just leave them there.
Anyone game for this? Anyone ready to step up with me? Pray about that, and I look forward to hearing some responses.
